Earlier this month Hills Prospect were lucky enough to be invited to Bordeaux by our wonderful family producers Famille Helfrich for an educational tour and tasting at their domaines and chateaux's, arranged by our good friend Andy Poxon.
Members from across the Hills Prospect sales team, telesales, purchasing, and our Director's Trevor, Nick and Collette spent an informative two days learning everything there is to know about wines from Bordeaux. Interestingly, some producers that were introduced to Hills Prospect are beginning to change to organic methods, an emerging trend that we have been watching closely. Did you know it takes 3 years to convert a vineyard from non-organic to organic?!
The team were lucky enough to explore:
Chateau Bastor Lamontagne Sauternes
Chateau Robert Graves
Chateau Cantin St Emilion Grand Cru
Chateau Cadet Bon St Emilion Grand Cru
Chateau Clos Beauregard Pomerol
By day three it was all change as the team experienced an intensely enlightening day at Courvoisier. Beginning with a tasting of the Cognac range from Benoit De Sutter, next up was a visit to the museum, the vineyard and the distillery, before visiting a Winegrower and then on to the Chai Renard – Courvoisier’s oldest cellar. The day was wonderfully rounded off with an opportunity to Bottle Your Own - where the team were able to taste directly from the cask, and bottle exceptional eau-de-vie.
